Thread & Story: Palestinian Tatreez

June 6, 2026

The motifs in our embroidery workshops carry generations of meaning.

When you sit down at our embroidery table, you're picking up a language. Tatreez — traditional Palestinian cross-stitch — encodes region, season and celebration in its motifs: cypress trees, moons, the eight-pointed star.

We teach the basic stitch in an afternoon, but the stories take longer. Each pattern travelled from village to village, carried on the hems of dresses, adapted by every hand that stitched it.

Guests leave with a small framed piece — and, we hope, a thread connecting them to a craft that refuses to be forgotten.
